Join America's Uncommon Wine Expert Chris Kern and other wine and adventure lovers just like you for the exclusive French wine tasting trip of a lifetime.

You'll experience eight days and seven nights in the gorgeous, glorious South of France enjoying wine, gourmet meals, and all the warmth and atmosphere that Europe's favorite summer playground has to offer.

Your first four days will be spent exploring and drinking through all sections of the famed Rhone Valley, from Hermitage, Cote-Rotie, and Lyon in the north down to Gigondas, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and Avignon in the south. Then, you'll be whisked away for an additional four days to awe-inspiring Provence, where you will soak up the sun and taste sumptuous wines along the Mediterranean Coast in Cassis, Bandol, and Aix-en-Provence.

As with all of our Forgotten Grapes wine tours, one single price includes your accommodations, ground transportation, transfers, winery visits and tastings, knowledgeable guides and drivers, and most meals, including multi-course wine-paired dinners at some of the finest restaurants in the South of France.

Space for the Forgotten Grapes Rhone Valley & Provence 2016 Wine Tour is extremely limited. We limit our wine tours to only 12 participants to allow for the most inclusive, attentive, and personalized wine tour possible. So make your reservation now before the trip sells out to ensure you won't miss out on what will be the most memorable wine vacation of your life.

In the Rhone Valley:

For our first four nights in the Rhone Valley, guests on the Forgotten Grapes Wine Tour will stay at the luxurious Hotel Digoine in the southern Rhone village of Bourg-St.-Andeol. A former mansion and historical property a stone's throw from the Rhone River, Digoine has been renovated and restored as a charming bed-and-breakfast by proprietor Olivier Dutreil, who has owned the property for the past twenty years.

Each room is well-appointed with comfortable beds, fresh linens, and modern conveniences. Each room has also been specially designed to invoke a different location along the 19th Century "Silk Road" between France and China. A traditional French Breakfast is included every morning we are at Hotel Digoine and can be taken in either the hotel's dining room or in its historic medieval kitchen.

In Provence:

Our final three nights in Provence will feature accommodations at the Grand Hotel Negre Coste in Aix-en-Provence. Located in the heart of Aix along the bustling Cours Mirabeau, the Grand Hotel Negre Coste offers a more contemporary contrast to the Hotel Digoine, balancing modern French style and luxuries with a classic Gallic twist. Each room is well-appointed and chicly styled and comes equipped with free wi-fi. Breakfast will be provided each morning we are at the hotel and can be taken in each guest's room or in the hotel dining room.

Please note: because we choose to stay at smaller boutique bed-and-breakfasts and hotels during our tours, not all double occupancy rooms are equipped with queen or king size beds. Some beds contain two twin or full beds for the two occupants. We will try to accommodate requests for single beds for participant couples as much as possible, but can make no guarantee that your style of bed will be available to you should you request it. It is Europe, after all, so we appreciate your patience and flexibility.

Forgotten Grapes Rhone Valley & Provence 2016 Wine Tour Itinerary 06/23/16 - 07/03/16

All ground transportation within the Rhone Valley and Provence is provided as part of the overall wine tour price. Tour guests will be transported in comfortable Mercedes Benz passenger vans holding no more than 10 persons each, to ensure you get a gorgeous view of the Rhone Valley and Provence countrysides as you traverse across all the unique terroirs of the region. Passenger vans are equipped with air conditioning and comfortable seating to ensure the most relaxed and pleasurable rides possible.

Trip participants will be responsible for providing their own air transportation to and from France, as well as transportation to the Avignon TGV (high-speed rail) station on Sunday, June 26th, which will be the pick-up location for all trip participants. On the final day of the trip, Sunday July 3rd, participants will be shuttled to the Aix-en-Provence TGV (high-speed rail) station, where they will be responsible for their own transportation home. We will do our best to accommodate the schedules of our participants on both the first and last days in terms of arrival and departure times.

All meals for the trip are included in the total price, with the exceptions of lunch in Avignon on June 30th and lunch in Cassis on July 1st, which will be on your own as you explore both towns. A welcome dinner with a traditional Provencal buffet will be served at the Notre Dame de Cousignac winery for all trip participants upon arrival. Breakfasts will be served at the hotel dining room each morning before departure for day's excursions and tastings. Lunches will take place at traditional French bistros where participants will have a choice of items off the menu. Wine, sparkling water, coffee, soft drinks, and other traditional beverages will be available during lunch as well.

Dinners will be spent experiencing the wide range of different and unique culinary styles on display in the south of France, from the traditional homestyle meal of a winemaking family to seaside seafood dinners literally on the beach of the Mediterranean Sea to the epitome of French gastronomical decadence: a twelve-course tasting dinner of local delicacies paired with local wines of renown perfectly matched with the meal. Depending on the dinner, guests will have options from various appetizers, salads, and entrees on the menu. Wine and other beverages will be served with each meal.

Please note: while we will do what we can to accommodate individual's food preferences and allergies, dining in France often requires an open mind and an adventurous palate. We regret that we cannot guarantee that all food requirements, allergies, or special requests can be fulfilled but we will do our best to try to fulfill all participant needs.
